I'm thinking about moving to the Tampa area. I was excited about the beaches in the Clearwater/St. Pete area... anyone know how the beaches in this area have been affected by the oil spill, now or in the future?

I'm also wondering if Tampa is a good fit for me for other reasons. I'm a 30 yr-old single woman looking for a nursing job. Are there many young singles in that area? Is it safe?

Thanks a lot!

No oil now and less than a 5% chance of oil in the future, related to the Deepwater incident.

There is no oil in the area beaches and I am 99% sure none will find its way here.

Heck, there's hardly any in the panhandle.

Don't worry about this.

Lots of young singles in the Bay area.

I just moved down here to Tampa last month from the panhandle of Florida, Ft Walton Beach, and we didn't see hardly any at all. Some tar balls here and there, but that's about it. Pensacola got hit with some about a month ago, but its all cleaned up. I doubt you will see any affect of it down here. Just my $.02 worth...

Thanks God it's not here and there is a slim chance of that happening.

But the real effect for Florida isn't just the oil here or not but the associated turism and fishing industry. I hope they will hold BP accountable to cash in some series advertizement money for the State. People in other states still aren't fully coming as they are supposted to and we need that to get going.

To the OP. No worry to enjoy the beach but you need money even for the "free" beach. Get that job first

Good luck
