Thanks everyone. A short commute would be high on my list of priorities, so would Sarasota be too far of a drive if my husband was to work close to downtown Tampa? Thanks again for the insights

We live in north Sarasota, near airport and hubby drives to downtown everyday - it is one hour door-to-door. Mileage I think is 51 miles, but my hubby doesn't mind, it's I-75 all the way until the Leroy Selmon which takes him right to his office, and moves easily. We feel it is worth it to live here.

If you want a short commute to downtown Tampa, then yes Sarasota is way too far. South Tampa would be a much better bet.

Exactly ^^. If south Tampa is in your budget, this is probably the best choice for you. In our case, my husband does not want to live in Tampa.
