Is this map accurate? I'm an out of stater who has never been to Tampa and I'm not questioning what you know but why does the area in red seem so big? It seems like 3/4 of the city is red so should people stay away from a lot of Tampa?

Not only is that big, but because of its procimity to dowtown that is also prime real estate being wasted!

It rather accurately illustrates that sections that are either run down and shoddy, seedy, or both.

+1 about wasted real estate. Especially the section 8 housing south of Columbus Ave. Nuke it. Start over. Great land wasted.

There are not really too many places in the bay area that are really that bad. However, the areas that I might tell you to avoid at night are....

1-Anywhere along Nebraska and Florida Avenues from just north of downtown up to Bearss
2-Ybor City east of 23rd and north of I-4
3-Hillsborough Ave east of I-275
4-Tampa Heights
5-Seminole Heights
6-South St Pete

That's really about it, I think

You are. You need to come down a bit south closer to Danashores. Just on the north side of the gulf coarse it's pretty rough and trashy.

Show me a major city, especially one in the South that does not have a huge percentage of it as ghetto / dangerous.

There is a reason why the suburbs and white flight happened...

The scumbags have to live somewhere too. They live inside the city limits for the most part.

You missed:

Suitcase City
Ybor and "points north" including College Hill
Town and Country
Most of West Tampa
Port Tampa
Palm River

I think I was pretty generous and I am gonna revise it this weekend.
