Moving to Riverview this week from Lake County = native Floridian here.

Am in need of a good verterinarian in the Riverview area that is also not too expensive. We had a bad experience with vets here and would like recommendations.

We will be closer to the Big Bend area of Riverview, but I am willing to travel a bit for a well respected and great vet for my dogs.

Thanks to all who reply

We just moved to Apollo Beach last week and I ended up having to run one of my dogs in because of an emergency. We ended up at Apollo Beach Veterinary and they were very reasonably priced. The services we received would have cost as least twice as much at our old vet.

We are very near Big Bend and it is not far.

I have experience with these three.. and go back and forth btwn Boyette and Apollo depending on the price of the actual service/availability of appointments.

Boyette Animal Hospital ... Good vet service, friendly, gives you the time you need to ask questions, fair priced though not inexpensive. They give back to the community giving tours to Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts through their vet office free of charge, which was nice and how we came to find them.

Big Bend Animal Hospital ... STAY AWAY... they were curt, judgmental (our puppy we bought didn't have its first set of shots and they couldn't believe we would buy from a breeder so irresponsible) and expensive ($180 for 1st set of shots and exam!).

Apollo Beach Animal Hospital.. Also good service, friendly, a little less expensive for their services than Boyette but were further away.

Ruskin Animal Hospital and Cat Clinic

I'm been using this clinic for the last two years for a cat - I find the techs very helpful. One of the vets didn't give a lot of time for routine questions - another one (Dr Slaughter, I believe) is very friendly, helpful, answers all questions. Never had major emergencies or serious issues to deal with, but the clinic is otherwise very efficient, imo.

I've heard negatives about Fox & Friends Animal Hospital - Veterinarian | Sun City Center, FL as far as pricing (overpriced). But that clinic is also in your area and might be worth visiting - let us know what you think if you do decide to use them.

Thanks for the recommendations, I knew if I asked here I would get honest answers from others who have actually used the services.

Kinda like the free Angies List.
