I've read traffic is pretty much a whole day, even weekend issue there. Not so in Tampa Bay.

As for low paying transients, are you one of them? Not every one is in that category..
Weekends are actually worse. Since most families are two income families, when the weekend rolls around both parents are out driving around. One with kids, one doing the errands.

And there is no reverse commute anymore. With the development of business (big businesses) in the Virginia suburbs, traffic all ways is always screwed up.

But, if you like busy cities with a hot job market and unaffordable housing and people who will look you in the eye and tell you it is impossible to live a reasonable life on 400k a year, then this is the place for you!

I agree with this ^^^. Also, many parts of the Seminole Heights neighborhoods have more of that "neighborhood feel" the OP is looking for.

I like Seminole Heights, its a good location as well. South Tampa's nice too but will cost a little more.
Another area you might wanna look at that fits your criteria is the area thats closer to south Tampa just north of Kennedy Blvd, its called "North Hyde Park".

It looks like Seminole Heights has taken the lead!

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone.
