Want to move to Tampa-need help! (St. Petersburg, Clearwater: new home, employment, school rankings)

Ok- so ive read alot of posts- where to move where not- im getting confused! Too many people saying move here then others say dont.
My Mom, Husband and our soon to be 5 children would like to move to the Tampa area this time next year ( June 2010).
Where is a good location, good schools, close to ocean/bay?

It depends on what you like in a home - and what your price range is. St. Petersburg/Clearwater area is closest to beaches but generally is more expensive and has older homes. If you go across the bridge, the Carrollwood/Town & Country area is nice and has more modern homes, South Tampa is very nice but older bungalow style homes that are more expensive, and if you want suburbs with new homes, you are going to be more like 30-45 minutes from the nearest beach but then you'd want to check out Wesley Chapel, New Tampa, Brandon and Riverview. It depends on what your employment situation is.

Do you have job skills that are needed in the current economy.

With a large family like yours you need to really plan and research.

How can someone worry about what area to live in if they don't have a job first.

You need to know what your commute will be.

If you aren't working on looking for work and doing job research first, there really is no point.

Palm Harbor/East Lake good schools, relatively close to water, also Trinity/Newport Richie...but not as familiar with schools there
