Perhaps you are the one whom is racist, asking if there are "rednecks" is no different then using a slang to refer to a uneducated person of color.

When you say Rednecks, I assume you're talking about the typical rebel flag waving trailer trash types? If that's so, they are more common in the areas between St. Pete and Clearwater, such as Largo, Seminole and Pinellas Park. They are also pretty prevalent in Pasco, Hillsborough (outside city limits) and Polk counties.

Great post! I feel the same way. I am getting sick and tired of people asking if some area here is "full of rednecks." It is bigoted and demeaning. Trust me on this. There are three times the amount of rednecks here in Tampa. They are much more popular here. St. Pete has more educated and cultured type people, but there are some rednecks there too. Afterall, we are in the south. I still have not gotten used to them, even after a year!
