Anyone from Ruskin or Tampa or Tampa Bay in here? Can ya tell me about it? One of my favorite artists is from here or at least lived her younger years in this location and I would like to know.

I have family at Sun City Center in Ruskin, so I've driven through the area scores of times. Its an area with tomato harvesting, lots of migrant (Hispanic) workers - very poor, in my opinion. The town of Ruskin has very little - a few Mom and Pop diners, some very old drug stores and hardware stores. I think a K-mart just closed, and they used to recently have an actual operating drive-in movie theater. Bahia Beach - now called something else - is a small private beach and there's a marina there, too. Highway 41 (Tamiami Trail) runs through Ruskin - and probably was a bigger deal before the interstate (I-75) was around. Of course, Sun City Center is an extremely well run retirement center - Del Webb discovered the area. Evidentally he researched the hurricane trends in FLA and picked the Ruskin area because of that.

What about Naples, Valrico, and Tampa Bay?
