I am looking for anybody from Rockwood, TN to tell me if there has ever been a Rockwood family there. Same name as the town.

Thank you for any answers!

Default Rockwood

Hi. I am from Rockwood. Actually, there was a Rockwood family here. The town is named after William O Rockwood. He was the first president of the Roane Iron Company during the Civil War era. I do not believe that anyone by the name of Rockwood currently live here.
Hope this helps.

Our surveyor's from Rockwood and he's a doll.

I also took some pictures there during our trip back in may:

I found Rockwood to be pretty nice. We were looking at some land there--and were interested until we turned the corner at the end of the lot and there was a big ghost-town trailer park. People wandering around amongst trailers that didn't seem fit for habitation...I think there's some pictures in there; we couldn't believe people lived there. I don't mind trailer homes, don't get me wrong--but these had plastic bags taped for windows, that sort of thing.

However, that said, much of Rockwood seems pretty nice. The downtown seems a little run down but is cute. We didn't look too much outside of town, so not sure how that area is.

Downtown Rockwood is also the home to the Yonder Hollow Old-Timey Music shows every Friday night, which I'm dying to get to one day.

All things considered, we wound up choosing land outside Kingston, which I feel is more on the upswing and more of the sort of rural area we enjoy--

Our friends just bought in there and that is near Rockwood. If you have any specific questions I can ask them.
