can't bring myself to spend 70k (includes the minimal additional options i'd like). I'm currently driving a newer Acura, which is fine....but the tesla with that beast of a monitor/screen is just too good not to drool over!
I can't convince myself to spend that kind of cash on a car....
Then you aren't it's target market. it's competing with other cars that cost $70-100k. A lot of people obviously CAN afford to spent $70-100k on a car.
I priced one out and the one I want (P85+) with the options I'd want, runs to $120k. Can't afford that, but it's nice to dream.
the model X is coming out soon isn't it for around 40-50k? I am sure some kind of screen will be in there haha
The X should be about the same price as the S, as it's the AWD SUV version. It'll be the upcoming Model E that is the cheap BMW 3 series competitor. Should be out about the same time my Volt lease is up. Have to look into it.
Find a used one. It's not like mileage is as much of a concern with an electric car as it is with a combustion engine. You can probably find a used one for a good 10-15k less than new.
Yeah I want one badly also but I still need to travel occasionally longer than the range of the Tesla and you're limited on recharging options. I priced one the way I wanted and it came to $110K which is above my BMW 750. You'll get back some of that on gas savings but I still wonder about long-term reliability and if the systems in the Tesla including suspension, brakes, etc can match the Beemer. Still I want one.
I would like to see if the upcoming $35-40K version will be more suitable as a 2nd car. I like the BMW I3 but it's still a long way from meeting the battery tech of the Tesla.

Actually, they are holding value incredibly well on the used market. Like, REALLY well. You'd be better off ordering a new one and have it shipped.

As nice as they look in the showroom, I see several parked every day, around work and home, and they really don't stand out in parking lots.
