In the short-run it's right, but in the long-run they're very good for the economy, reduce the immigration would be a mistake for the future. The US will need them after the recovery, immigrants create many jobs

As someone who knows several unemployed Americans in I.T. and work with Indians and Chinese every day, I respectfully disagree.

I think the OP might get a little bit offended if they were told "Sorry, you need to go to the back of the line, we are trying to process those who jumped the line and didn't spend the money or their time to do things according to the book."
The immigration reform that George W. Bush tried to get passed, and that John McCain supported would have corrected this problem. Under that proposal those here illegaly would have to wait to be processed behind those already legally pursuing citizenship. They also had to pay an additional fine. IMO that's punishment, not a reward. I'm a conservative and I supported that proposal. Deportation alone will not solve the immigration problem. If we simply deport everyone given the already lax enforcement and unsecured borders we already have, they will come back. IMHO, it will take comprehensive reform measures, similar to what George W. attempted, as well as having a far more secure border before any real progress would be seen.

funny, because I've never heard of an illegal immigrant getting a tax return or getting a social security check.

Why don't republicans support putting in jail the people that employ illegal immigrants?
No jobs, no illegal immigration

Immigration from Mexico dampened by recession - Sep. 2009

There SHOULD be severe penalties for employing illegal aliens--no doubt about that, and I'm all for it.

Why? I don't understand the hatred of Fox News. They are much more liberal now than they were a few years ago. They're just not quite so unbalanced as most of the others.

All of the rest of the news programs (NBC, CBS, CNN, et al) in the MSM are so liberally biased that it's sickening.

So if you don't like Fox News, watch one of the other ones. You have plenty of others that are all more liberal-leaning than Fox News.

I do not watch any of those cable news channels anymore; I often watch (or listen to as I am doing housework) the NBC evening news and I read a lot of news online from various sites. And I also listen to NPR. I think multiple sources offer a good balance.

So what do you read online to balance out NPR/NBC?

I don't see how pointing out that FoxNews has a conservative agenda is "hatred." I'm liberal, and I can even recognize that MSNBC has a definite liberal slant. But you honestly don't see that FoxNews has a conservative slant? How exactly are they more liberal now? Genuinely curious, here.
