Well, fellow Texans, it looks like the end of another good era...

Don "Dandy Don" Meredith passed away at the age of 72. I imagine most of us Texan (especially those over 40) remember him well.

I do not have him at 72 in my mind, he will always be that vibrant man out there on the field making magic happen.

I remember him in the broadcast booth for MNF. He will be sorely missed. RIP Dand Don.

Oh man, what a blow.

Dandy Don had just become the starting QB for the Cowboys when I was in high school. He was a really funny guy and made delightful remarks in sideline interviews.

You played a good game, Don. RIP.

Turn out the lights, the party's over.

You brought so much enjoyment into our lives. Thank you for the memories. I hope there's a big pitcher of Lipton ice tea ready for you when you reach heaven.

RIP, Dandy Don.

I really did like Don Meredith. He was an great quarterback and a hilarious and knowledgeable foil for Howard Cosell. Not a great singer, but I can forgive him that. RIP, Dandy Don.

He was also one of the few pro footballers to quit at the top of his game. Not many sports figures have the sense to do that.

I enjoyed Don as a quarterback and maybe even more when he used his wit to deflate that windbag Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football.

You have to like a guy who has been a celebrity for many years but can walk away from that to live out his life as a private person. From what I've read today he had a nice life in New Mexico with his family.

Celebrity is a powerful addiction (look at what ex-celebrities do to get in the news again) but Don was obviously immune to that. That's good.
