Having horses in a city is country??? I'd think it was more stupid than country. Plus, it's not like it's horses all over the city; it's just a a sprinkle of people scattered around the city with them. Ya'll should watch Animal cops because people in places like Philadelphia be having people horse breeding in compact urban neighborhoods. I think it adds to the quirkiness of Houston; Horseback riding and skyscrapers.

I think it may have to do with the lack of zoning in Houston or the city ordinances; what you think Spade???

I've also in my experience never seen this in Miami.
what i mean by inner city is poorer, run-down neighborhoods, generally speaking. that's not westheimer or memorial

it should've been clear that's the type of areas we were talking about. the areas jluke and the others were discussing are pretty much inner city neighborhoods

as far as new orleanians calling houston country, they really need to look in a mirror. and it's not like all or even most houstonians are riding horses. there's a big difference between folks in houston and those who are actually from the country

True. I had to laugh at that bit about New Orleanians calling Houstonians country.

It was on Cullen near Airport and Almeda Genoa, Southside of Houston that you will seen some black cowboys ride horses, especially around Rodeo time or in the summer. A friend of mines told me she has travel other cities and stated that the "hoods" might look ghetto or grity in Houston, but its not as rough and dangerous as other major city hoods like Dallas, LA, NYC, Philly, Chicago, Detroit and Atlanta where she has seen worst. Anything that is rough is on the north side of Houston like Fifth Ward, Kashmere, Homestead, Jenson and Antoine area. Overall Houston might be larger, but its somewhat safer and intergrated..

Hmmm so Dallas hoods are rougher looking than Houston hoods thats a new one on me but everybody is entilted to there opinion. I would tend to agree if you took Dallas and Atlanta off the list and added New Orleans.

No; he said Houston hoods look rougher, but Dallas and Atlanta hoods are rougher. I agree; Dallas people get wild; they remind me of New Orleans people. Houstonians are more laid-back; however, the dudes in Houston are some of the most aggressive [Personality and behavior wise] dudes ever.

Well the way people are talking is like people use horses all over the city and it's somehow very common for a major city. Again, I would find that as strange to see it. But that's me. I don't think it has much to do with the lack of zoning though. City ordinances, maybe as they probably state that you can allow it but there are rules.

I think you kind of have to see it to understand, lol

The incidents me and Htownlove are talking about is usually the same people who do it like everyday. You really don't see horses in the 3rd Ward area and its surroundings until you get to the more grimmer looking parts.

Like this area:

Houston,tx - Google Maps

It's funny because the area where I saw the horses is unavailable in streetview. It's the area right next to where I linked at.

Oh. I bet the people that usually do it are over the age of 50. BTW, that's one terrible looking neighborhood. In fact, the area around the southern portion of 610 and east of 288 is pretty much ugly.
