I am sure everybody has a place in Texas they love to getaway to that is not a "mainstream" Big City like Houston, Dallas, etc...

What is your Secret Place.. or somewhere not known by everyone that holds a place in your heart?

Before we moved here.. it is/was the "Frio River" Area of Concan, Leakey & Rio Frio.. and still is..

I want to hear yours!

My place is the Big Bend. Study Butte, Marathon, Terlingua. Those are my favorite places to get away.

But then, if I did tell you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore. And what fun would that be??

Doodleville. And you don't need to know where that is.

hmmm...sometimes we just like to spend time at Lake Travis (cow creek). Just day trip type things mainly. Brenham, Georgetown, Bastrop/Elgin/McDade. A friend of mine absolutely loves Bandera. I also like spending time at my grandmas out in the country in South Tyler, sort of close to Mineola.

Haven't been here in a long time.... but growing up as a kid we would often go camping at Inks Lake State Park. Have many fond memories of that place. We moved to West Texas and that made it harder to get away. Now we're in East Texas... so maybe we can now that we're much closer.

Floating down the Frio River was another favorite getaway. Also, hiking in Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo. And.... swimming and skiing at my grandparent's lake out in the country near College Station.

Camping at "Chain o Lakes" near Livingston is fun, if you don't mind the gators.
