Considering moving to Katy, TX or Houston, TX: Is the humidity as bad as the locals told us when we visited a month ago? The only complaints we heard were traffic (which we aren't concerned about coming from Chicago area) and the humidity. Can you get used to it?

East and Southeast Texas including Katy are miserably hot and humid from April to October.

Katy's traffic isn't as bad since they renovated I-10 recently (Leads to Downtown Houston) and it is now considered the widest freeway in the world currently. Now, if you're talking about around town, I think it's not too bad in my opinion.

That is an impossible question to answer. Some people do, some don't. One thing for sure, though: it is harder on you the more overweight you are. After that it's mostly psychological, mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Take a really hot shower with the bathroom door closed. Step out of the shower. That is Houston humidity in the summer. Maybe 1-2% lower but not much.

With the exception of steam.

Yes the humidity is as bad as you were told, and worse. I've lived here 37 years and in Texas all my life and have never gotten used to it. I am already dreading summer!!!!

Houston humidity is horrible. I've lived in Texas for 29 years and Houston is the worst (up there with St. Louis). I get migraines, and when I'm driving down I45, it never fails that I get a migraine right before I get to the Woodlands sign. It's not mind over matter because the last time I did the drive, I made sure I wasn't paying attention to where we were or how close (I wasn't driving) as I wanted to see if it was psychological or real, and it was real. My head started pounding out of no where, and about 2 miles later was The Woodlands sign. The air is just nastily thick and you'll feel like you need a shower right after you get out of the shower.

I enjoy it. I hate dry heat and cant stand cold weather. People say San Antonio is Humid but I lived there for two years and it wasnt humid enough for me. Many people hate it but I was born and raised here so im sure that might have a little something to do with it. Last month got too cold in my opinion..

I actually feel some what relieved when I go to San Antonio. IMO their humidity is not nearly as bad as in Houston.
