Hello there!

I'm starting to narrow down a few towns in Texas to relocate to and one of them is Nacogdoches. Before I add it to my list, how's the humidity there?

We're from a desert climate of Central Washington so I've been looking more on the west side of Texas, but Nacogdoches seems like a great community and the outdoor recreation/trees draws me there. If the humidity is outrageous, I'll have to mark it off the list. I don't want to walk outside and feel like I'm suffocating.

Let me know, honestly!! Thanks!!

Nacogdoches is in East Texas....and is extremely humid, as all of east Texas is. Right now at 7:44pm CST, it is 64 degrees, 88% humidity.

Where I lived for 30 years, Midland, TX (West Texas), it is 66 degrees, 16% humidity.

Where I live now, (Alamogordo, NM, 85 miles NE of El Paso, TX, it is 60 degrees and 15% humidity.

If you are looking for a dry, desert/arid climate, Nacogdoches won't fit the bill.

I'm in East Texas.....you better mark it off your list. However...keep in mind that it also will have a short rain storm there when it's 105 degrees outside and you don't think you can stand the cloudless, hot, windless, relenting heat. I went to school in Nacogdoches..and as much as I hated the humidity...the rain showers were nice.

Thanks Canine, Destin and Cathy! I will mark it off my list. I know I couldn't handle that! I'm leaning more towards San Angelo and Abilene. I'm pretty sure they are little more dry! Too bad, Nacogdoches seemed nice!

Having lived in East Texas and West Texas - you have to take the 'good' with the 'bad.'
East Texas has humidity - and green trees, rivers and lakes.
West Texas - including San Angelo and Abilene - have beautiful dry evenings, brilliant sunny days, and spring winds up to 30 mph laced with just a hint of sharp sand. That day or two literally blows by and you're back to pleasant weather.

The humidity here is horrendous! If you are used to more of a desert climate this is not the place for you.

Clowry57 is absolutely right.

Texas is very humid in all areas except for West Texas (and that's west of Abilene, which is the eastern edge of WT) and the Panhandle (Amarillo and points north from there). If you want a desert/semi-arid environment, El Paso, Midland-Odessa, Lubbock, et al...come to mind.

Many will argue that Austin/Hill Country and Dallas are not humid, but I strongly disagree with that.

As the OP's post was four years ago, they've probably have already made their move but today out here near Lubbock is not so dry. I was just outside doing a little work and came in soaking wet with sweat. We recently had a small amount of rain so the relative humidity here has been bad. Today it's probably around 60%. The swamp coolers are only able to maintain a 5 degree difference in inside and outside temps.

Ah yes but it's better than New Orleans or Houston where 100% humidity doesn't even mean it's raining.
