Yes, I realized this so we took out Dallas. I think 3 nights in Austin and San Antonio and 4 in Houston might be good for now. I need to see as much as I can in those days. We will be busy from sunrise to sunset.

There are a lot of wildlife experiences in Texas. Catch a mess of rattlesnakes in Sweetwater, or stop on a country road and play with the tarantulas. More species of birds have been seen in Texas than any other state. Or pick up guide to wildflowers, and wander in open country or along roadsides identifying them.

Don't forget eating experiences. Most of what is called Mexican food is actually Tex-Mex, and originated right here in Texas. Or have breakfast in a dusty small town main-street cafe, and eavesdrop on the old ranchers talk.

It depends on where in Texas you're talking. West Texas has enough Wildlife or at least comparable to any other state in the U.S. But this ain't the motherland.
