Anything in West or Southwest Texas. The humidity gets noticeably lower around Abilene/San Angelo. It gets really nice around Midland, Lubbock, Amarillo, etc. In all of these towns it actually cools off at night, unlike the big cities of DFW, Houston, and Austin.

Moving to Alpine in about a month. The area has not only one of the best climates in Texas but has arguably one of the best year round climates in the intercontinental USA if you are talking about a dry climate.

I'm loving San Angelo. I moved here about a year ago. It's not too chilly during the winter, humid, or hot during the summer- many will disagree with me. I really like how there wasn't as much snow as compared to the Panhandle.

I voted McAllen due to the complete lack of snow, ice, windchill. There were two extremely rare hailstorms last year. Tornados are extremely uncommon, & according to the local meteorologists, if one were to form here, it would be barely F-1 and short-lived. I think I've only seen one very small one here in 6-7 years, & it did no damage. Definitely hot, but not nearly as humid as outsiders think. favorite climate is El Paso, though. Wearing shorts year round actually sucks.

All have a relatively dry heat, and while the summers are hotter than I like, the rest of the year is great. The worst aspects of all three--hail and high winds. I would also wish for colder winters, but one can't have it all in one location (IMHO).
The rest of West Texas is waaay too hot, especially Midland-Odessa.
The rest of the state (with the exception of the Panhandle) is way too humid for me. If Alpine had the winters of the upper Panhandle, it would be just about perfect all year around.

Cathy, another rep sent your way. While I can't claim a deep familiarity with the entire state of Texas, I will always agree with you about the most beautiful part of the state being Ft Davis/Alpine/Marfa area.
Heading to Ft Stockton this weekend, but can't make the time to get that far down there.
