Laid off and sent here, but still I had a choice. I could have gone to Atlanta, Phoenix, New York City, Houston, or Dallas. We chose Dallas.

My first husband I escaped a very depressed Florida at age 19 - that was in 1977. I've lived in Texas longer than anywhere else so I call myself an adopted Texan!

Born here, in the Beaumont region. Left for another state to go to college. Graduated, got married, came back.

Both of my grandfathers made the choice for me - both of them chose El Paso as their "land of opportunity" and both died in El Paso, where I and three siblings were born.

Born in Oklahoma and moved here for my first permanent job in the oil business in Houston. Had offers in La, Ca and Ok as well as missouri but picked Tx and Houston for the right job and career. I will always be an Okie but consider myself Texan too now and am unlikely to ever leave Tx.

I was born somewhere in the Yukon on a gold claim. Somehow in a great spring thaw I was swept downstream on a tributary of the Yukon. I was found by wolves, washed up on a gravel bar most likely, and raised on raw meat scraps and wolf milk. I was found at age 5, ID'd by a birthmark, and brought to Texas to be raised by my maternal grandparents as they knew I'd be a good fit for Texas.

The rest is just history!

Viva la Tejas!!!
