Hi everybody, is anyone experiencing gas shortages due to Harvey?I heard on the weather channel that the Houston Metro produces a quarter to a half of the nations gasoline..I also heard the largest U.S. refinery is off-line.Its not a problem here in the Energy Basin because most of our gas comes from the Alon Refinery in Big Spring. Is Abilene and onto Wichita Falls experiencing gas shortages due to Hurricane Harvey?I heard its mainly because a lot of people are making runs on the gas stations and trucks cant fill up the stations fast enough. Its not safe to store large amounts of gas at your house. This reminds me of the 1970's Arab Oil Embargo because of all the lines at the gas stations.I am headed to Arkansas on saturday so i dont know if we can go now.Are other parts of the state experiencing shortages?I never thought I would see a gas shortage in my life. Thanks in advance yall.

See the map here:
GasBuddy Gasoline Availability Tracker
Zoom to your location, select stations with gas, click on green for more info. You can do it from your GasBuddy app too.

Eh, the shortages are self-fulfilling, I think - everyone is going to fill their gas tank at the same time, causing shortages. Now there will be no one at a station for a week :P.

My son just drove by a Shell station at the entrance to our neighborhood - no lines, and only 2 or 3 people pumping gas.

True, it is, but there is quite a bit of inventory, and exports will also drop. So far it seems no real serious damage identified at any of the major refineries yet.

My guess is that if people had filled up like they normally do instead of panicking, the problems would be minuscule in comparison.
