There are sooo many wonderful states to check out and make your future in...Texas is not one of them, give it a pass and move on.

Seems kind of a lame thread, a bit provocative, but I'll bite. Like most states, Texas does not consist of just its big cities -Houston, Dallas, etc - and most of Texas is not typical of life in those cities.

Small town Texas is full of friendly - very friendly - people and is not particularly exclusionist, either. If you want a more leisurely lifestyle with a laid-back attitude from your neighbors, you can enjoy Texas as you cannot enjoy some other states.

Texas has no state income tax, one of the few states that doesn't, and outside the big cities, real estate property tax is not a big burden.

You can choose your own type weather - Texas has some of everything - and get either East Texas cool, South Texas warm, West Texas desert, Gulf Coast beaches, or a mixture (in some places).

Most places in the US are what you are willing to make them.

Go try and hack it in one of Texas´ neighboring places...Oklahoma, New Mexico, my native Louisiana, México...

Then get back to me. There´s a reason why people move to Texas. Sure, if you prefer winters in a place like Michigan over that heat, I get it. Otherwise, I´m looking forward to relocating my family to the Lone Star State. Louisiana isn´t getting one tax dollar from me.

Texas has a way to make transplants feel like they are home. This feeling is priceless. Texans have Texas size hearts.
