Hello folks,

I moved to Dallas area last year because the company I got a new job with was based in Dallas and required its employees to be in the office two days a week. So I rented an apartment in Richardson and moved here. This month we had massive layoffs and I lost my job. Fortunately, I found a new job almost instantly but it pays a little less than I was making. But it's 100% remote with no chance of ever being required to go to an office. That means that I am free to live anywhere. I don't want to leave Texas as I love the state and there is no state income tax. To bridge the gap between my income, I am thinking of planning to move to a cheaper apartment. I am new to Texas so don't it much. Any suggestions for a one bed/studio apartment under $1000/month anywhere in Texas? I don't care where it is. It just needs to be in a safe area and I can get high speed internet. Town hardly matters. My kids are all grown up and out of school so schools don't matter either. All that matters is safety and affordability. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Which part of Texas would you prefer? Texas is huge. I'm sure there are websites for apartments. Look at places like Tyler, Marshall, Athens, Weatherford, etc, etc, etc. Just look in smaller cities.

Assuming that you don’t know anybody that lives outside of Dallas, I would probably just look for one in a smaller town outside of Dallas. Maybe Plano, Fort Worth, Arlington? WeatherFord could be good too if you want to be out closer to the country.

If you want a whole new change come down to San Antonio my friend. It’s the cheapest big city in Texas
