I just tried to put cities with around 200,000 or above popualtions in the poll,Im not familiar with Tyler and its population #, I wanted to list more cities as options but I only clicked on the 6, and I was like "oh well" maybe these will do, I dont know why I put Lubbock and Amarillo both, I didnt think it was that big of a deal but I guess some people take offense to this.

nevermind, we can just scratch this thread if its that much of an issue, we'll just say every city is different since that is all I got out of this thread.

This thread is perfectly good, and that person is free to go start their own thread and put everything from Lufkin to Laredo on it if its that big of a problem. I noticed that a couple of the medium sized cities were missing too, but you know what? I coped with it, and selected from the ones that were there, which is still a very good spread if you ask me.

Texas is dynamic and unlike any other place. The quality that makes Texas what it is can't be put into words. No single city is Texas but at the same time, all of them are Texas.

Hey, please don't be offended, Texans have always liked to argue about stuff like this--it's one of the state's past times. I like to discuss it and I haven't lived in Texas in ten years although I did live there for 45 years before that.
Deep East Texas is Lufkin which is as far removed from Amarillo as you can get. It is really a big state.
Regarding Cajun food in Houston--I never saw it before the 80's when a guy opened a joint on Nasa Road One in Clear Lake. It's ok, but Tex-Mex is still king. I don't even consider red beans and rice to be Cajun because I grew up eating it once a week. It's what my mother's family ate in East Texas. I ate Mexican food all of my life (and still do), even though the stuff in Northern California where I live now is slop compared to Texas. I can still remember going to Felix's in Houston when I was six years old (almost 50 years ago).
Growing up, I never considered myself resembling anything that I saw on TV about the stereotype of Texans.

It's just like one huge city where the various towns are different neighborhoods. From Weatherford to Rockwall, it seems like the same continuous city to me.
