We are looking for a place to live around Toronto. Good schools, libraries, parks. English speaking. Safe. Middle class. We'd probably rent for a year to get to know the area and then look to buy. Any suggestions on neighborhoods?

Thanks so much.
"Around Toronto" covers a lot of area.
Perhaps if you provided a little more information, like where you'd be working and how long a commute you desired, it would be easier to get really helpful suggestions.
Great point. Thanks. We are moving there to plant a church and really have no limitations in terms of where we can go (except Oakville). Our biggest criteria is to live in a place that will be great to raise our kids. We like North York, but don't know alot about the other areas.
How about a little clue as whether you prefer inner city, suburb (like North York), or satellite city (like Oakville)?
If you're open to areas surrounding Toronto proper like Oakville or Whitby or Newmarket, then you're dealing with a vast area inhabited by 4+ million people.......there are a plethora of areas that meet your criteria.
The best areas in Toronto are all close to downtown. If you wanted to live somewhere decently middle class then consider Oakville but I wouldn't be caught dead there. Most suburban areas are less safe than the city itself.

Ummm, the OP has already stated that Oakville is not up for consideration.
