Dealer says they got the car from another dealer in NH and so that's the reason it shows 86mi. If we want a car with very few miles then we need to wait 4 weeks to get it.

We checked with other dealers on the out-the-door price offered by this dealer ($16.7k). No one is even coming close. I would like to hear opinions on how do we deal with this situation. If you've been or if you were in a similar situation, how did/would you make the best of it (ie., some additional concessions from the dealer).
You knew they did not have what you wanted but they got it for you. How did you expect them to get one?

It's mass production corolla, not a limited production Countach

For me, 86 miles is round trip to lunch.

Much rather buy a car that has 2000 mi on it and get a discount for it. I hate driving new cars during break in period.

They found the car you wanted at another dealer and sent a "runner" to get it. This is a very common practice. I do not see what your problem is,

My Boss special ordered a Corvette years ago and it was big deal...

He was kept informed each stage of the way and the arrival date was on a Friday and after work had an appointment to take delivery... the car was no where to be found.

After much checking one the junior sales people said he took it on a demo ride which was a lie... he and his girlfriend took it overnight for a drive down Pacific Coast Highway and it came back with 240 miles on it...

Boss was livid, salesman was fired on the spot for lying.

Boss wanted them to order him another one and that was not possible because production ended...

After a lot of back and forth the Dealer offered the maximum extended warranty at no charge and free oil changes for life and he took delivery...

Can't believe you are worrying about this, but it is no big deal.

I just bought my "new" car, a previous year's model that hadn't sold yet, with 89 miles on it. At a discount of over $8,000.

I don't think it's a big deal...but if you weren't expecting it or informed of it you may be able to "parlay" it into something that will cost the dealership basically nothing but be a value to you - like a year of free oil changes...or a gas card, etc. But...I wouldn't blow the whole deal over it - not worth it.
