Atlantis is a great resort. The beaches are great there too. The only issue with Atlantis is the food prices. The average meal is pretty expensive and its not great. The food is not bad but certainly not great. I have had very good meals in Atlantis but they also cost me a lot. The main Island is not bad. It's a large city for the Caribbean but there are some good places to find like the fish fry festivals and some smaller not so well known resturants. It just cost money to take a cab to cross the bridge into Nassau.

But I promise the kids will love Atlantis. The water slides, pools, lazy rivers, fish tanks, they are all AWESOME. And the beach and water in the Bahamas is fantastic. And for the adults the casino is top notch, good night club and bars. It's a nice place just a bit expensive especially the food. If you are looking for a place that the kids will enjoy than I would suggest it though just figure out the price.

There are some cheaper resorts in the Domican Republic. I would take a look at Aruba and CuraƧao too.

I can only speak for Aruba or Cancun as they are the only 2 places we've been too. There sure were a lot of kids and adults at both places having a great deal of fun. Most were scuba diving in those nice clear waters. But there are other things to do also. Google each place and pick your choices.

I look at Beaches T&C...that's $4700 for the resort only!

Thought about Puerto Rico...can stay at a really nice resort for $250 per night, or the double tree for $132/night. But then I hear PR isn't safe.

Atlantis is half the price of Beaches, but no food is included. Is Nassau nice outside of the resort?

Help!

My question is are you really looking for a resort or would you like a more independent adventure? One of the best vacations ever that we took with my daughter was to the British Virgin Islands. We stayed in an apartment at Cane Garden Bay in Tortola and took ferries to various islands all but 2 or 3 days. Of course it depends on your kids, mine is more adventurous and loved it. IMHO, resorts are great if you want to hang out and be pampered, and sometimes that's exactly what I want, but throwing caution to the wind and really visiting an area can be loads of fun.

first of all I would try and find an all inclusive and I don't think I would want to drive around any of the islands except maybe Aruba, Bonaire and Curasau (spelling) and none of then really have a lot of activities for kids unless you do an AI. Oh, St Maartin would be safe as well. Cancun and Cozumel are possibilities as well.

As for the Bahamas, this is just a personal thing, but I have never liked the place, nor felt extremely safe. I know what Eureka said about Aruba, but we all have to remember, that was an awful and unusual situation. It isn't fair to judge the island by what happened to her, as terrible as it was. This could have happened in any town, right here in America. You had a young girl, who was partying too much, she trusted the wrong people, the young man involved had connections, and most of us know how it turned out. After the fact, the police didn't act quickly enough to follow up, but that would not have stopped her from death or disappearance.

Oh, I missed the spring break part: No, I would not go near there during spring break.. I don't think I would do Cozumel either, stick with the Caribbean, probable the southern islands, like ABCs. As for Atlantis, it might be fantastic, the price might be much less than say, Beaches, but the cost of food, plus the 15% added to everything can shoot those prices up, sky high.
