I have enough FF miles with American Airlines (AA) for 2 biz class tickets to Europe.

I own homes in both Mexico and in Florida.

If I travel to Europe from Mexico the quickest trip is to fly Iberia (they partner with AA).

If I travel from FL to Europe, I would use AA since I have flown AA biz class to Spain and Italy several times and have always been pleased.

I have never flown Iberia transatlantic (used them for short hops within Spain, econo class).

Anyone have any comments on the level of comfort and service between Iberia and AA for business class to Europe?

I was just looking into something similar yesterday.. Iberia Business Class gets decent reviews, I think it depends on which plane you are on (similar to AA, some planes have better than others).

I do know that the taxes end up being cheaper on Iberia typically because BA charges very high taxes.

Personally, if I am in business (at least lie-flat business) I don't much care how long the flight takes.

Unless I’m going to Asia or Australia, I avoid red eyes at all costs. I take the Boston-LHR day flight and sleep in a real bed.

My one recent Iberia experience was domestic within Spain. I paid extra for exit row and they stopped me boarding the flight and printed a boarding pass for a 28” seat pitch seat. I’m 6’2”. I was unimpressed. Fortunately, the flight attendants moved me back to the exit row. There is no way I would ever fly Iberia again.

I've flown both in business & both are good, probably depends more on the age/type of plane as well. Iberia will stop in Madrid which has a nice Business lounge & is a very large new airport, if I remember it was a bit of a hike to the next flight's gate in another wing/building, can't comment on Ft Lauderdale lounge. Personally I would just take the cheapest/fastest option.

Go to seatguru or some other online reviews on these flights (for the same exact route) and make your call from there.

I've only ever flown United's international business class to Asia and Europe since i have their FF status and it's really not that great compared to ones I've flown on Singapore Air, Qatar Airlines, and Emirates. I've heard AA is the only US airlines whose business class had ever won an award but I can't recall for which route. Find out what the seat arrangements look like. The good ones will have 1-2-1 seats arrangement, versus United's typical 2-4-2 seats arrangement.

How long is the flight from FL to Europe anyway? If it's the typical 7-8 hours duration, it probably won't matter as much because by the time they finish serving meals, it will only leave you with 4 hours to go before landing.

It's about 8 hours MIA to MAD, but my day starts hours earlier as I fly from TPA to MIA first.

AA flights MIA to MAD are newly upgraded with the new pods; I have flown them over the years and always happy with biz class on this flight.

I usually skip dinner and try to get as much sleep as possible. Hence my q. re: Iberia.
