Yes, a neighbour murdered his wife years ago. And a business associate/friend of my father's was murdered very gruesomely in his place of business by an employee.

Sort of like murder. A cousin of mine was beaten up by some guys and left for dead in the road then hit by a car which killed him. Don't much of the details of what happened as I wasn't close to my cousin or the family. I don't even know if the guys that beat him up and left for dead were caught and charged with anything.

Someone I went to school with was murdered by her husband. Didn't know her personally.

A client of mine was murdered. My uncle was murdered. My other uncle and grandmother were murdered. And my dad and another client were shot in the face but survived.

My grandfather was murdered, while delivering the mail in Brooklyn, NY... although this happened before I was born (1967), so I never technically "knew" him. Missed out on having a paternal grandfather, however, thanks to those murderous low-lifes.

I worked in the women's prison and thought I recognized a convict. I asked a staff member who had contact with her if she was so-and-so. He asked her, she said no. I looked up her file and she WAS the person I went to school with. Come to find out she was embarrassed to admit it was her since I knew her. She was in for murder, a life sentence. I also heard about several others (males) I went to school with who I was able to look up by name. I wasn't surprised by any of them ending up in prison.

I have a friend whose brother was murdered. That's as close as I've gotten, thank goodness.

Yes, I had a friend who was murdered when I was 13 and she was 15. Some thought she was a victim of the Green River murderer but the M.O. seems wrong. She was pregnant and she and her boyfriend decided to fly to Washington to see her grandmother. They also took her dog with them. They only had enough money to fly as far as Sacramento, so from there they hitchhiked. They were all found dead and mutilated in the woods near Klamath Falls, Oregon. Even the dog was tortured and mutilated and my friend's unborn baby had been cut out of her. As far as I know this was never solved. It happened in 1976.

Another person I knew who was murdered was my daughter's first "boyfriend" when she was 13 years old, and he was a regular and much loved visitor to our home. Eric Starr Smith was murdered by his own father, who was under the influence of meth at the time. Eric's younger brother Larry was in the back of the van while this occured. They were driving down the highway in New Mexico when Eric's dad attacked him, stabbing him over 60 times, and then pulling over to the side of the road where he decapitated Eric and then threw his head out of the window while driving. It was one of the most horrific things we've ever had to suffer through, including having the local press camped out in our front yard.
