Drugs isn't an excuse to go out and commit any crime. I don't care what the offender said about his sentence; it's not hard enough.

That's waaaaay too much time for that crime.

I decide how much time someone should serve based on what people normally get for murder sentences as I consider that the worst crime anyone can commit (the victim is actually dead, not just traumatized). For example, if the average sentence for 2nd degree murder is 22 years, a rape should probably be about half of that. You could then add on a few more years because the victim was an old person and there goes your prison sentence (around 13 years total).

Of course, if someone is a repeat violent crime offender, double the sentence (bringing it to 26 years).

The victims age (92) was a big factor. Crimes against a child and the elderly are judged stringently in the US.

Personally, I don't feel any rape crime deserves leniency, it takes a sociopath mind to think he deserves any less.

Looks like the link in the OP is broke.

They, the legal system, should approach this like my parents when we would whine about our punishment not being fair...."Ohhh did you just say you wanted to be grounded for two weeks instead of one"...

The problem is, the number of wrongfully-convicted sex crimes inmates in the US is substantial, and despite the hurdles to being freed on that basis, such cases continue to come to light. It may be an appealing idea on the surface to execute rapists, but the problem is, American police, judges, prosecutors, and jurors are simply not very competent at determining who is, in fact, a rapist.

Thank you!
In fact false accusations of rape/molestation have grown with the ease of using the internet to build a credible sounding story
