This one is another case that fascinated me at the time but I was younger in my age and not as passionate. Now that I am reading about it again, I am getting fired up.
Even at the time when it happened.. I think I was about 26 years old.. I REALLY felt the mother had something to do with it. I don't know why, but my gut was screaming at me.
It's just SO odd that they found part of her mother's paint brush (I guess she was into crafts) in JBR's private parts.
Also, it was inconclusive as to whether she had previous sexual abuse. I guess they can tell that kind of stuff.
THe whole thing is just not inline with a classic "outside" crime. Who writes a HUGE ransom note (by the way, they did handwriting analysis and couldn't rule her mother out from writing that note) on paper that came from the house and leaves it on the stairwell???? So like.. someone was just roaming around the house at night and wrote the note at the dinner table??? HELLO?????
The girl was found IN her home... usually they are found somewhere else. No steps in the snow... I mean, the whole thing just stinks of an inside job.
THe whole crime scene was contained within the home.. including the paper used for the ransom note, the items used on the girl, the girl being found in the basement...
I also agree there was something ritual... child porn type of thing that went on. There was a book written by a guy that explained how there is this whole underground child porn... sex thing that goes on and that it what happened to JBR. I didn't read the book but I think you can get it on Amazon still.
Also, the ransom note is SO telling that one of the parents (most likely the mom) wrote it.
Check out this link about someone that picks apart line by line the ENTIRE ransom note. Fascinating to say the least.
