My opinion is. it's just as wrong on the inside as it is on the outside. And anyone found raping another in prison should be punished just the same, including being registered as a sex offender
Prisoners being raped is certainly not new; has been going on for many many years. There are now programs being introduced, violations against the offender, support services for the victim.....
Not too much can be done, if it's a concern to anyone I would recommend staying out of prison.
sad reality is, innocent people get sent to prison...more than anyone cares to admit.
Things can be done. It's a crime, treat it like one. do the rape kits, DNA and throw the pervert in solitary and when he gets out, give him an ankle monitor for life.
Otherwise they are just learning how to be worse criminals and that they can get away with it.
In order to understand this, we need to know how things was since colonial times.
Charles Manson is a great example of this. It really depends on the jail.
If you want to stop prison, sex you need to seperate the older. prisoners from the younger ones. The younger ones come in with no respect, steal things from the older ones, and have their pants half way down their legs, ( which is stupid, and inviting to older groups ). The older ones still think it is 1970's, and deals with those segregation problems. The younger ones, will get abused by the older ones.
Like open a new prison and take the people who have good conduct, and stick them, in with a new inmates, and force them to mix in with each other.
The word "Conjugal" comes to mind.........simple solution.
