We are in our 40s and may relocate to Bville but want to live closer to "things". Probably rent apartment until we decide where to buy. But looking for restaurants, bars, shopping. Suggestions on where to rent in Tulsa or Owasso?

Depends on what your budget is. If you want urban living where you can walk to bars, restaurants and grocery stores, I would recommend looking in the Cherry Street area. There was a condo there for rent at $1200 in the paper. Another area is Brookside and rents there vary wildly depending on how close to the river and shops the location is.

Both Brookside and Cherry Street will keep you out of the construction on the BA and I-244 for commuting to Bartlesville.

If you haven't been there, go visit B'Ville and see what you think. Also talk to the co-workers in your group and get their opinions. While the drive is relatively simple and nothing like you have in the Houston area, it'll grow old in time, especially when ice arrives. Just imagine what it will cost to commute and how that money could be invested in your home.

In my opinion, unless one of you will work in Tulsa and the other in B'Ville, it's smarter to live in Bartlesville where it's safe, sane, and convenient. Property taxes and violent crime is very high in Tulsa, the roads in many urban areas, are similar to those found in third world countries. Unless you're traveling everyday, it's worth driving (from B'Ville) to the Tulsa airport as it's a 45 minute drive with cheap parking and efficient security check points. Bartlesville has a lot to offer but if you need the big city on a daily basic, then Tulsa may be your solution.

Like I said, this is my opinion.... we transferred to Bartlesville in 2002 and made the same decisions. We were happy that we chose to live in Bartlesville. We didn't need the big city everyday but we could drive there quite easily when we wanted to enjoy some of the different things that she offers. Good luck with your move.

My son bought a house off 146th street North just half a mile east of highway 75 and works at Siemens in B'ville. Alot of really nice new homes in his sub-division. He loves it and did not want to live in B'ville either. His commute time is 35 minutes, straight shot up 75 and no traffic. Plus he car pools with 3 others so that saves a lot in fuel costs. You will find plenty of people to car pool with because so many people who work in B'ville live in Owasso/Collinsville or Tulsa.
