I think the writers will do more with her since she's now with the most beloved character on the show. Daryl won't tolerate a wuss. He showed that with Carol.

the last show I watched, wanted to smack Rick's kid, however, then you realize, God, what they are going thru, they just lost the home they knew, and he's a kid, cocky, thinks he is invincable....I remember, (though a long, long time ago)

What if Carl does not realize that it is Michonne or a person on the other side of the door? What if Rick's response is seen by Carl as his approval to kill zombies on his own because he is now seen as a man?
Judith's well being is obviously a cliff hanger which would not be spoiled by Talking Dead. Until it is confirmed on screen or by one of the characters they wouldn't put her in memorian. And I don't think her not being on it proves she is alive.
I'm thinking Beth is going to be more central to the plot and develop more since we are about to get an episode with mainly just her and Darryl.
Rick saw that it was Michonne probably holding up Carl's boot that he lost - thereby the "It's for you" response.
