Not sure about the new version, but I think the original time show begins in the time frame of 1901-1904.

I thought Laura Linney said it was 1937. That would make sense because of the Hitler rep at the party trying to drum up support for the German regime.

If anyone wants to catch up on the original series, maybe your library has the DVD's. I just ordered the complete set from mine. I miss the old characters, but I did enjoy the sequel last night.

I was a huge fan of the original series. (Which spanned the years 1903 to 1930. The Titanic sunk in 1912, BTW.) I had my trepidations about the new series, but.....

I loved it!

Tremedously well acted and very well written. Welcome back, Rose! I missed you.

I recorded the new one but haven't had a chance to watch it. I am looking forward to it. I ordered the entire series from NetFlix but two of the DVD's were not available.

My mom was born the year the Titanic sunk in 1912. She always used to say she was born the year the Titanic went down. That's how I remembered how old she was.

I've been looking for them online to buy for a while. Some of the black and white episodes were not shown here since it was believed people wouldn't want to watch black and white, go figgure.

I love the new show. If you watched the old one its even richer in feel since you see the difference in the way the times were lived. Rose wouldn't have had nearly the trouble finding a good butler in 1904. I will never forget the scene with the maid when they find her telling about the ship going down. It gave defination to a time we really don't much have a clue about.

From what I read online, the black and white episodes didn't air like the colored ones did. They may not be available at all. But you can click on the link I posted to watch the ones Netflix doesn't have. They quality is good and you can wide screen it.

I watched the first of the series.First it wasn't introduced as well a Cook did it with his explaining the era. I also thought they got too quickly into the drama rather than developing the characters as they did in the first. Cook ;no doubt would have explained the great changes that went on in the 20's in society that flowed over into the 30's.

Thank you. NetFlix said I had a wait for the 3rd episode and a long wait for the 1st.

I just finished watching. It was wonderful. Great to see Anne Reid (Ladies of Letters) as Mrs. Thackery the cook. I got a little lump in my throat when Jean Marsh walked into 165 Eaton Place at the end of the show while the theme song played from the original series.

Oh, and BTW Tex, I met Alistair Cook years ago. He was wonderful.
