How long have they been doing this with shows?
I never watched TV much and then started, got caught up with Grey's on netflix. Got involved in this one and they do this too. I forget everything that went on and it makes me want to go back to reading books again! By the time the show starts again, I could care less about what happened because I can barely remember.

I remember them doing this as far back as when Heros was on and probably even earlier.. I've actually moved on from NCSI because of it, soon to move on from Criminal Minds, partly because of this annoyance.

Oh, no, Rosa! How could you give up NCIS and Criminal Minds?? I don't care how long the breaks are for those two shows, I'll always go back!

Only because the breaks become so long, I end up involved in a new show and forget the other is still on, by the time I realized NCIS was back on, I kinda lost interest in the lastest story lines. I still watch, just not as faithfully and I've not stopped watching CM just yet, but, but, but My poor brain can only handle so much memory space.
Maybe if fans wrote letters in droves about how they fear they will lose interest in the show when the network makes the show take long breaks, then maybe the networks will respond positively. Fans had to wait 2 weeks to see episode 12 and 13 back to back only to now have to wait 3 weeks (Feb. 8) to see episode 14. They will alienate fans quickly if they keep this up. I would hate to think that ABC would want their breakout hit show to fizzle before season one has even fully aired.

That's a good idea but will zero affect. Remember...this is a day and age where networks yank shows off the air if they aren't doing well after a few weeks! They don't give shows a chance to find an audience any longer. I hate to even get involved in a new show since the networks might cancel it.
As far as Revenge goes...I just set my DVR to record a new episode and I see it when I see it but it's not the same as tuning in every week to keep the momentum going.
I wonder if they also do what they do to weaken the cast members contract negociating abilities. Maybe they the studio heads say "Here, see how replaceable you all are?"
Whatever they're reasons, it's going to end up backfiring in the long run, eventually audiences will get tired of being yanked around for the companies' greed.
The next new new episode is scheduled to air Feb 8
This seems to be a constant occurance with all the shows I enjoy these past few years. I've actually moved on from shows because of it, especially when they take a hot show off for a while to introduce a new show in its spot. There are way too many shows on tv to not just move on to the next if I get too distracted by another show, absences not alway = fonder.
ABC did this with two shows I enjoyed a lot-Flashforward and V. It really ticks me off! I love Revenge but the networks seem to consciously try to sabotage their shows and I don't understand why.
Went through looking for new eppies of all "my" shows this week and they are all repeats again! I am so mad I could spit! Two figgin' months of repeats and "specials".
Loved the show and super mad that it won't be back on til 2/19.
correction: next new episode is 2/8
