I think the main character is the house and there will be many characters coming and going, so we better not get too attached to them. I think the cast will be constantly changing
I think I read something like this in an early article about the show. the house "always wins" no matter who moves in. The stars were supposedly only signing on for a season, or if they decided to keep them longer, they could always be killed and become ghosts.
I guess on most shows, if your character is killed off, you're out of a job, but on AHS, it means you stay indefinitely! It's only the living charaters that are at risk of being cut.

And why can there be ghost baby daddies but no ghost baby mamas?
How does a female ghost deliver a flesh and blood baby?
Well ... maybe she could make a little ghost baby?
I dont know that we can call these entities ghost. Maybe they are some kind of other being which is why they can take physical form and do all the things a person can do other than leave the property.
Sometimes they think a show will only be x years long and the writers/producers have a plan but when the show goes longer because its popular/gets good ratings, they find they've painted themselves into a box and the show goes downhill with ridiculous story lines. I can think of one particular show that happened to and one of those writers happens to write for this show, too.
Why is Hayden so aware that she is dead, while other ghosts have no clue they are dead? It's a little weird to me...
Yeah, she is very aware - talks about it openly and experiments it does seem odd. But the only thing I can think of is that she, like Moira have a bit more power and are unique because they are also buried there.

I have heard rumors that some of the key actors have only signed on for one season, so if the show has a second season it will be a completely new setting with new characters.

How can it be a completely new setting if the house is the heart of the show? Can't they bring new actors into the house?
I still think this is a great show - a unique concept with some great actors and creepy, suspenseful stories - just what I like which you seldom find on network TV anymore (so different from the many reality TV, cop/lawyer shows). Hope this show stays around for awhile.

Of course the house will always be the setting for this show, The House is the main character. Depending on what the actors want for pay, TPTB can do what they want with characters. Keep them, kill them off, make 'em run away, anything. Plus bring new "blood" into the house too.

Violet's Dead!
What a great episode tonight. Violet is indeed dead. The writers certainly outdid themselves with the reveal. You had to feel for her. Such a waste of life. I believe she will now be the only one to help her parents as the house seeks to claim the unborn children for its own. Finally there is a very interesting television show to watch again.
