In the pilot of REVOLUTION it is 15 years after the blackout. Assuming that event happened in 2012 with the U.S. population of 300 million I would say the population would be reduced to levels similar to 1870. Less than 100 million probably. Mexico would fare better and probably invade their neighbor to the North up to the Canadian border.

After last nights episode, at least the plot is moving along. The sword fights are getting annoying though.

And last night's episode clarified that whatever caused electricity to no longer function was not a natural phenomenon, but was man-made.

I still want to know why there aren't more horses in the hands of the general population, along with bicycles...

I'm enjoying this show. I'm a mountain man. My place didn't have electric when i first discovered this forest & underground artesian springs, on the mountain, over five lustrum ago.

Yeah. But that was strongly hinted in the pilot as well.

But "electricity stopped working" wouldn't make any sense, since our bodies are electrochemical organisms. If electricity just stopped, every living creature on earth would die.

I suspect this whole issue is going to be a lot like LOST, meaning the producers had a bright idea that makes a good hook for a show but they honestly have no idea what happened and are making it up as they go along.

Haven't watched the second episode yet, but my suspicion would be they intended it to be an emp, or a series of them. And the pattern as we saw the lights go out fits. This was all very carefully staged so I'd assume they were leaving a clue.

From there, there are a variety of ways of creating one, but I'm going for the explosion high in the atmosphere as the first thing it would kill would be satalites, and the first things that quite were gps, the tv and cell phones.

When I watch Revolution I feel like I've been forced to sit through a televised version of the paranoid dystopian wet dreams that are so painfully abundant in the "Politics and Other Controversies" and "Self-Sufficiency and Preparedness" forums.

Good luck to all the fine actors especially Giancarlo Esposito, but I'll pass.

Am I the only one that finds the acting painful to watch? It's so terrible.
