If you want to make a dig at someone, please at least spell the dig correctly.

Well. at least McC. won Best Actor.

It's barely over and already I can't remember who won Best Actress. Oh, yeah, Cate B. That's a movie I'll never see.

If the intention was to misspell her surname intentionally (as many others have done over the years), it was still misspelled.

Years ago, I also harbored bad feelings for her. But the way she's resurrected herself and her genuine niceness (both on her show and on other shows, like American Idol) have won my admiration.

That's why I was so surprised to see her being so unkind tonight. Someone said, on another site, that her comments were all scripted and that she had no control of what she said. If so, it still showed poorly on her part that she'd agree to host a show where she had no control over her comments. "Roast shows" are somewhat entertaining because people expect to be made fun of (to some extent), but the Oscars presents itself as the cream-of-the-crop of these kinds of shows and all the mean comments arent appreciated. I suspect that the audience laughs at them because they feel obligated to do so.

And Ellen seemed to be aware that her hosting didnt go over well at all.

Had Liza Minelli looked good, maybe Ellen's comments wouldnt have been so unpleasant. But she didnt and they were.

There was a mystery woman...could that have been Kim Novak?
I was with a bunch of people. Miss one thing, miss a lot.
I was amazed Ellen was able to keep going after Liza's reaction...I can only
think she didn't see it...and GOOD, bec she is so sensitive the night would
have been off for her....her schtick is never to hurt anyone.
But come on, Liza is the most loved by gay guys and like Cher is so impersonated
by drag queens...I'm sure after the initial misunderstanding she got it...
Liza has slung some stuff in her day.

I find Ellen's humor very cute and funny...she is getting great reviews so far...
except for that ruffled blouse...they say she looked like a pilgrim. Oh well, she changed it.

I felt each award was right on, well deserved....but that's a discussion for the Movies section.

OMG... I thought it WAS an impersonator at first!! You are right, she did not seem amused.

Should we start a separate thread for the Bad Cosmetic Surgery people?? Liza would be one,
Goldie Hawn another, and Kim Novak (whom I would not have recognized at all!) would be on my starter list.

Novak seemed disoriented and I had a sense McConaughey was "guiding" her at the end of their presentation... I would like to know someday how some of these presenters are chosen.
