They are all pretty good. 6 of them are top level sitcoms. The other 4 (*) are average, but I still might prefer to watch one the average ones more, depending on my mood at the time.
Nope. It started in 1972, and it wiped the floor with these shows. Then again, I didn't watch it because I thought it glorified war, which of course it didn't. Now I wish there were a M*A*S*H channel.
The list is inconclusive for 1970s shows.
At the time, All in the Family and Newhart were very good, AITF for its shock value and its political on point commentary.
Now, every single one of these shows are unwatchable, just as Mr. Ed, Green Acres, and Petticoat Junction are dreck. Three's Company was especially misogynistic and insulting. Brady Bunch was simply moronic.
Newhart may be watchable, but it hasn't been reshown, so who knows.
I saw Newhart on the oldies channel. They started showing Beverly Hillbillies on the oldies channel. It's still good stuff!
Of the ones you listed, All in the Family and Bob Newhart were both good, funny shows. I give the edge to All in the Family because it was not just comedy, it was also serious social commentary. People today have no sense of how controversial it was when it first aired. Still,, I enjoyed both of them.
The rest were mostly garbage, although there was a little to be said for the two All in the Family spinoffs, Maude and The Jeffersons.
Alice was a television adaption or spinoff of the movie Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, but I always thought it was pretty weak and it got progressively worse as the character Flo, with her catch phrase "Kiss mah grits!" grew to dominate the show.
