Just tripped over this show,
The girl looks good is a great dancer but weighs 400 pounds.
I'm sure every one who watches the show wonders just how much better this girl could be if she lost a few hundred pounds by slowing down on whatever it is she is eating.
You must not have watched much of the show. She has Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Most people with PCOS are overweight or obese because it causes an imbalance with your hormones. PCOS can even cause you to be insulin resistant.
I have PCOS with insulin resistance. I stuck to a 1000 calorie per day diet and still managed to gain 50 pounds in a year. One year. I now take glucophage, which has kept me from gaining more weight, but I'm still having a very hard time losing it.
Thanks for the clarification Jay,yeah i just started watching the show and her Dad is giving her a hard time about keeping her truck clean.
As for her condition i've never heard of it and fail to see how you can gain that much weight without eating a lot of food, weight gain doesnt come out of thin air.
i'll do some research on the condition.
I don't see how PCOS can cause a 400lb weight problem. I.myself have PCOS and weight 245lbs, down 30 lbs from January. It is posdible to lose weight. I only eat 1100 cal/day and exercise for an hour 3-4 days a week. If I slack in exercise or eating I'll gain back a few lbs and have to try extra hard to get back on track.
My goal is to get to 200lbs or less. It will likely take another year if I stick to my plan. But 400lbs even with PCOS isn't possible if you eat less calories than you burn.
I try not to judge. People look at me and think I must stuff my face all the time. I don't. I began a new job last year (summer 2014) and my co-workers were shocked with how healthily I ate and how I stuck to it.
When I first hit 200 pounds, it was soon out of college and I suspected PCOS. My gynecologist did not agree- but she didn't run any tests. I stayed at 200-220 for a long time. When I was about 28-29, I began to gain again. I got up to 240. My family doctor chalked it up to stress (I was going through a very stressful time.) Between Christmas 2013 and Christmas 2014, I gained an additional 50 pounds. My eating habits were actually the best they had ever been. I made an appointment with a new gynecologist and was finally diagnosed in earlier this year. I weighed 288. As I said before, I began taking glucophage. I've stopped gaining weight, but I haven't lost any, either. I eat well, but I could exercise more.
I can see how it could get out of control. I've dealt with depression for the first time in my life this past year. I hate being this size. Things like tying my shoes, painting my toenails, etc... are difficult. There are some days when I want to stay in bed with box of Twinkies. I figure why not? I deny myself so much and I have nothing to show for it. It would be so easy to give up.

No one is judging. She is a grown woman who has every right to live in the body she wants to live in. I have no problem with her choice.
The posts in this thread must be about the TV show. Thanks.
