At the end I was bored and disturbed, and decided that I'd given it all the time I was going to give it. I binge watched the first three episodes of Game of Thrones, Season 3, and was totally hooked, and went back and binge watched Season 1 and 2. Some shows appeal to us, and others don't. Right now I like Westworld! A great 4th episode is just going to be a bonus.
I find these series like reading a book. If I have am not liking the book 1/3 in I usually move onto another. If I get to the 3/4 point I usually finish even if it is not a great book (thinking that if I have invested that much into reading it, I'd might as well.....).

It actually took me 7 episodes of Breaking Bad (and a couple months of casual watching) before I was hooked. Then I binged on the rest of the series with pleasure.

Okay, forgive me for asking what may be a really stupid question....but how do human visitors to the park distinguish other humans from hosts? With all the gunfights and other action, wouldn't there be the potential for friendly fire etc?

I presumed that the park only had one visitor or group of visitors in each narrative and everyone else was a host, but the scene between The Man in Black and those people who tried to engage him in conversation would seem to discount that possibility.

The guns will not fire on a guest. Only on hosts. Other than that ... there's really no way to know.

But it looks as if Wyatt's gang are carrying around axes, so it seems all bets are off there.

Well, the guns will fire and hit a guest but not kill him. Logan-the-jerk's pal (I forget his name ... William?)
was shot in that gunfight by the bandit who used Delores as a human shield and showed Logan his bruise.

Not sure how will they handle weapons like knives, axes, hammer, broken bottles, etc.

In episode 3 they said that the axes were causing problems. Only one host in that campfire group was allowed an axe, and his use was so restricted that it was causing problems in the programming. They'd been talking about whose turn it was to go get firewood for days.

On the other hand, hosts are programmed not to kill. At all. So much so that Dolores would not swat the fly crawling across her face. Until she did. Meaning that some of the hosts are going beyond their limitations. Whether they are somehow evolving on their own or their programmers are going a bit mad scientists remains to be seen.

I don't expect we'll get a whole lot of answers very soon, since the plan is for this show to last five or six seasons.

How do you suppose the hosts get to and from where the engineers are? We see Delores talking to Bernard frequently, and he tells her to hurry back before she's missed. It seemed like Bernard was questioning her after she shot somebody, but she spent the night at White Hat's campsite after fainting there. And later when the staff commented that she was off her normal loop, they sounded only mildly concerned and left her alone after they knew she was with White Hat. Don't they know she fired a gun?

What seems to be happening is the engineers are getting sloppy about erasing the memory of the hosts when they are brought in for servicing. They are retaining memory of previous storylines and encounters. It is mixing with their current programming and creating a decision point where the host is not sure which program they are to follow.

I'm not convinced it's sloppiness. I think it's intentional, either by Bernard or Ford or both.

Part of it is definitely from sloppiness as you saw with the engineers that forgot to put the prostitute into sleep mode and she woke up, escaped, saw the modern world including her dead friend hosts being worked on, and the engineers did not wipe that from her memory in their hurry to get her back. She later recalls those visions and looks very confused when she sees the host they were working on alive and walking back into the saloon.
