Hello Everyone,

Sadly, I'm still out of work here in California. I'm applying like crazy and feel very humbled. I'm ashamed to say I just didn't think it would be this hard to find a new job.

I'm about to end my 26 weeks of my initial claim here in California. My last date of employment was 8/15/12, but with the waiting week and the time it took California EDD to mail me my Bank of America debit card, I didn't receive my first payment until around 9/3 I think. The EDD website lists this graph below and there's a big difference between Tier 1 benefits if they count my benefits as starting on 8/15, which was my last official day of work, vs if they count it from the first week I received benefits.

I really hope I get employed soon and don't even have to think about this. I've got a lot of car repairs and other things to pay for that I just can't afford on unemployment, but just in case I have to take the extension money, could someone please let me know how many weeks I would be eligible to receive? Thank you all so much, and best of luck to all of you.

I just checked my records and found my notice of unemployment benefits filed says "You filed a claim for Unemployment Benefits effective 8/19/12." I hope that's the effective date for my benefits. Can someone please let me know how many weeks EUC I'm eligible for? Thank you.

It has nothing to do with when your claim started. The dates are by when you exhaust a state claim or exhaust between tiers. It's possible to work a part-time job and never exhaust your state claim before your benefit year is up, and never get EUC.

What you receive is dependent on when you transition to the various EUC tiers. For the rest of this year, you cannot receive more than:

14 weeks EUC Tier 1
14 weeks EUC Tier 2
09 weeks EUC Tier 3
10 weeks EUC Tier 4

If you work and collect benefits, you may never reach Tier 4.
