short and sweet.

I just got out of 4 years of service in the military. my home of record is NJ so I filed for NJUI. I now decided to go to school but im attending school in a different state. I have told the nj representative from NJUI that I'm attending school in another state and she said it was fine but it needed to be reviewed. they are suppose to call me in two weeks. My class schedules are during the days and it's 11 credits. Mon,Tues,Wed and thursday 2-3 hours a day except for tuesday which is entire day. What do they interview? I am willing to work if I find a job. am I doing something wrong here?

Yes, you are in all probability doing something wrong. UI is about you getting a job, not going to school. Those daytime classes will probably kill your claim, and by the time you find out why, it'll be too late to drop the classes and get a refund.

If you really want to go to school, you go through the UI department and get it approved, and then you enroll in classes, not the other way around.

If at all possible, switch those classes to night/evening or drop them and get a refund, and follow the proper steps. The last thing you want is to have to decide between your UI benefits or forfeiting the tuition/book money you've already paid.

I know you think that being willing to work is enough, but it's not. The classes during the day in all probability will render you not "able & available." In CA, one of the questions asked is "what would you do if you got a job," and your answer better be "if it conflicts with my class schedule, I'd quit going to school and take the job." Also, if you can show that switching to night/evening classes is practical or if the classes are available online, that will also help you in making it through your interview.

Yes, unemployment is to help you get by while looking for a new job. Taking that money while in school during the day means you are not available to work in most jobs that are going to be available, so it's considered abuse of the system.
