During my bi-weekly payment request, I had reported working for 15 hours and receiving $1,250 during one week. I hit "submit", and it apparently triggered a halt on my benefits and said to call them. What bothered me, is the person on the phone said things like, "So you were laid off from this company after working 15 hours?,
and I repied, "No, it was a 1099". But apparently, it doesn't matter because he explained that the last person I did work for is my employer. They got the phone and mailing address on them.
So my question is, will the unemployment office go after these new people for my unemployment compensation now? They are out of state. I'm concearned I'll never receive any other work from them again.
Thats why I think lying and expecting to never get audited, or not really care if you do is so much better. Unemployment is such a gag now as far as actually getting paid.
I don't know what state is involved, but in NY as long as the reason you stopped that job was lack of work your original claim would continue and you new "ex-employer" would not be part of your UI claim at all. Just thought I'd note since I know for that state, my guess from the "Austin" in your name that yours it TX.
