Compared to the US or here, it just seems there's less variety in what you can get. Even when I went into a typical Sainsbury's or Tesco, the range of chocolates, crisps, biscuits, and especially lollies of the gummy kind seems lacking compared to what we get here, let alone the US. I mean of all the things to complain about on a trip, right? But yeah, it just seemed there was actually less variety in that sort of thing compared to Australia.
Yes, for the unhealthy it is lol. I don't think I even saw starburst gummies there. Here we have quite an extensive variety. the Chocolate range included a few UK cadbury bars like Galaxy and a few euro ones. The drink range was rather paltry, hard to even get bottled ice tea.
However I had a Galaxy drink, like a sweet, thick, chocolate milk (sweeter and richer than regular choc milk) in Italy, made in Austria or something, which was really good.
Except there's far more fresh produce at affordable prices. I hate junk. Junk = obesity.
Compared to America? Interesting, my mum was saying she found there was a lack of fresh produce compared to Australia, but we really are spoilt. The UK is better for cool climate fruits like berries though.

Well the UK grows a lot of produce and even if it comes from elsewhere in the EU, it doesn't have to be shipped as far as it does in the US. I think that's why the quality here is sometimes not as good. Food has to travel further.
There are about 6 supermarkets within a 10 mile radius of me - each supermarket is about the size of an airport - the cheese counters of each alone are 20 meters long! If people really need 'more choice' than what is available in these behemouths then I really dont know what to say!!
