Miami's projected density in DT core is unprecedented but will it be enough to make Miami core denser than LA core?

If Miami was to pass up LA in core density than it will also have passed Chicago's, Philly's, Boston's, SF's etc.

Is that primary residents or basically people who vacation in Florida and snowbirds?

Vacationers tend to buy their second homes on the beach, not in downtown.

Just curious, I have never heard anyone talk about Miami being dense other than the massive condo boom along the water which made its skyline look huge, but that is about it.

Maybe right along that high-rise condo corridor Miami will be more dense than a similar-sized portion of DTLA (though our downtown is also growing its residential population at a breakneck pace).

However with the larger core vs. core (say inner 5-10 square miles) Miami has a very long way to go to reach LA's density. LA's core is one of the densest in the nation, really behind only NYC, SF and Chicago and at about the same level or slightly denser than Philadelphia, DC and Boston's.

Miami core density is in the next tier down with places like Seattle, Baltimore and Portland.

This is speaking purely in terms of density numbers.

Miami proper is only 35 square miles.

Miami's urban area is the 4th largest in the USA.
People on C-D dismiss Miami all the time but, whatever.
