I was wondering if those more familiar with Vancouver might be able to point me in a good direction to continue my discouraging apartment hunt.

I am a young, female, working student that just moved back to the West Coast from Houston, Texas to be closer to my family. After spending six months in Beaverton OR, I have decided that I would like to be even closer and across that busy bridge! =)

Let me know how realistic I am being in my housing goals! I've tried the roomie thing for six months (after having my own apt for four years), and absolutely want to go back to having my own space. I am wanting a nice-sized studio or a decent one-bedroom within the price range of $550.00 - $680.00 including water and gas.

Are there certain areas of Vancouver that I need to avoid? Is this a reasonable budget for my goals as far as finding a decent area? I am a runner, and it is important that I feel safe going out for a jog...

I will be finishing school at Clark Community College and working at a restaraunt on the water, right next to the bridge ($$$).

Any suggestions on areas to look for a budget-friendly, SAFE apartment would be much appreciated! I do not know this area very well, and am feeling a little overwhelmed. It seems that I ethier run into an apartment that is $100.00 over my budget OR I find one that is $100.00 under and looks unsafe...
