I made a bet with friends that i would become vegeterian for a month. During that month i discovered a new world! I learned to cook all types of stuff! Before i couldnt even boil water. Everything just tastes sooo good and omg those veggie ribs, ill take em over the regular ones any day!
So after the month was over we went to celebrate at a restaurant i ordered chicken but suddenly i saw everyone devouring all this flesh and all this chewing i was going crazy. I took a bite i gaged and spit it out. Anyway its been 3 months now and i dont miss chicken or pork or any meats. But i gotta admit i do miss seafood. Is there an alternative? I know krab meat has fish in it. I mean if there isnt fine i'll live. When i first got into this i vowed to never eat animals. but This is not why i came here.
The reason i came here is because when i first went into this bet I was disgusted by how chickens were bread. I mean they are no longer chicken! So what about seafood? Is lobster and shrimp excused from all this controversy involved with Perdue and the documentaries like Food inc? Fish is caught i havnt seen anything involving seafood. So are the lobsters at places like Red lobster healthy? Or is there a farm some place where they grow shrimp bigger than normal. Thanks!
I am a long time vegetarian (like 30 years) of which I tried being vegan and it didn't work for me. Thru my years I have found what works for me. I eat fish once in a while and when I do, it is salmon. Salmon would be a healthier choice than eating lobster and those shellfish (which I never ate). There are numerous of vegetarian cookbooks that do have ways to make your favorite foods similar to fish for instance. I know I've seen it in one of my cookbooks. But if you miss eating seafood's your body is telling you that you need those vitamins & protein of which seafood's have.

Not trying to be snarky----but it can't be pointed out too often that fish is not part of a vegetarian diet. Salmon is an animal! It has to be killed for you to eat out. It sounds like you eat mostly a vegetarian diet, but the "once in a while" fish makes you a pescetarian.
Not sure what the vitamins and protein are that you can only get from fish. Fish dos have fatty acids like omega 3s, but you can get this from nuts and oils. And I've yet to see any sort of test that shows a protein deficiency that leads people to crave and "need" protein that can only be obtained from animal sources....
NY, what about seaweed in some dishes? That can give them a fishy taste. And there are vegan "fish" recipes and products available:
Seaweed! nice! thank you! In the past few months i completely forgot my love for seaweed. You make a great point, im def not going to kill an animal for a craving.

I think you can get all the vitamins and proteins found in fish from other sources that don't involve killing an animal.
Vegetarians don't eat animals, and fish are animals.
I knew that there was going to be some heat about this once I posted my personal opinion~! I know fish are animals and how they aren't a part of a vegan diet~!!

I am a pescetarian. Sometimes I order seafood when we go out to restaurants, and I will occasionally have a tuna sandwich.
To answer your questions, a major issue with seafood harvesting is its impact on the environment. The Monterey Bay Aquarium has a great site that explains this:
There are many types of vegetarians, like pescetarians, who eat fish. There is also ova-lacto, who eat eggs and dairy to breathatarian, who only breath the air. And yes, there is such a thing.
Only if your vegan then fish would not be in your diet or any other animal
