Hi. My wife and I and our 2 year old little man will be visiting my family for Xmas for around 2 weeks. We'll be staying a bit near Chester, Vermont, quite remotely. I'm trying to find things to do with our little man other than playing outside (in case the weather is just too bad or way too cold). Some indoor playrooms around? Library activities for toddlers? Any other ideas? We're ok with driving 30 minutes to maybe an hour each way to visit places... Thanks!

Whiting Library in Chester:
Story Time is geared for preschoolers but all ages are encouraged to join in the fun! Enjoy stories, poems, new book previews from the Library. Story Time is on Fridays at 10:30AM for approximately 45 minutes long depending on the kids’ attention level. Look for this group in the Community Room downstairs or we may be outside in the backyard if the weather is clear.

Whiting Library is home to two weekly playgroups in Chester for the Wee Littles (0-5 years old) and their caregivers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. This is a free, fun and relaxed gathering where little kids play while their grown ups supervise and socialize.

No need to pre-register, simply drop in to the library Community Room. Stay as long or as little as you like. Geared towards Caregivers who want to find friendship in the greater wee little people (0-5 years old) community.

Library books, fun & games, plus art & craft projects in the community room downstairs – available to enjoy anytime the library is open!

Call Carrie at 802-875-2277 or send her an email at youthservices@whitinglibrary.org for more information.

You're welcome! I don't know your schedule, but here's a place my children enjoyed when they were younger. It's outdoors, though, and about 30 mins from Chester. https://www.santaslandusa.com/

Montshire Museum in Norwich, though it's geared toward older kids. Might be worth checking out their website though?

Find a hill and go sledding. Shouldn't be too hard to find in Vermont. What kid doesn't like sledding?

This may sound odd but if there's a Y nearby, they may have an indoor pool; or perhaps a nearby hotel. We took our kids on a visit to PA in the winter and the hit of the day was the indoor pool.

Bring some books, art supplies, water toys for the bathtub, even shaving cream to spray on a table - cleans the table and the kids have a ball with it (ex-kindergarten teacher here, lol).

You'll have a lovely time, I'm sure.
