My children are starting their 6th year in this school system. We are on the Ladysmith side which I believe is better than the Bowling Green K-5. We've had great experiences with this level. The teachers & administration are wonderful. My son will be going to the new Lewis & Clark school starting 3rd grade. The middle school level for the past 2 1/2 years has greatly improved since my oldest attended. Their SOL scores have risen significantly. They do have a new principal this year. I have a senior & a freshman at the high school this year. I think there are some useless teachers @ the high school, but there are also some very good ones. It helps that my senior is a very self motivating, driven young woman who pushes herself to do better. I am more concerned about my freshman who requires more attention to school work. They are both involved all year in the sports programs. These programs are good and offer after practice transportation to those that can't be picked up by parents. All in all my experiece in this county has been good. I think it's the parents responsility as well as the schools to make sure your child is getting a good education. Please if you have any specific questions or want more "opinions" let me know.

Caroline county schools are not the best in the area. Although, Caroline county is considered an "up and coming" locale.
Spotsylvania and Stafford (and of course, Fredericksburg) have much better ratings than Caroline.

Default Caroline Co Schools

Being born and raised in Caroline and currently raising my own children in the County, I find that, as with most schools, parental involvement is crucial. I get tired of people moving into the area from other localities, mainly NOVA, and complaining of the school system. Funny how I never see these parents involved in the PTA or at parent-teacher conferences! School is not a daycare facility and parents need to realize that their child is NOT always right. We have become a society with no accountability or responsibility and the easiest place to point the blame is with the schools. Well, if your child comes home with a poor report card, why is it the teachers fault? Take away their cell phone, computer and WII system and make them do their homework! I have found the teachers and administration at Caroline great to work with and supportive of students and parents. It's those problem kids with parents who always place fault on everyone else except their own children that bring the entire system down. With that being said, I have no complaints with the school system. If you are going to move here and be a constant complainer instead of proactive, stay where you are.
